Flame cleaning works through using thermal fraction, cleaning rust/ oxide from plate is best carried out when the plate is cold. The intense heat from the flame cleaning head, as it is passed over the layer of oxide, the thermal shock lifts the rust from the plate surface. To operate correctly a minimum of two industrial acetylene cylinders must be used to prevent acetone draw off and subsequent operating difficulties. With the flames set to the correct "neutral" condition and burning freely to atmosphere several of the cones should be lifting off the burner. This indicates the correct flow has been set. The cones seat as soon as the nozzle is brought to the work surface.
